Salsa adopted Nov 2005
Salsa is the best dog i have ever encountered.  She has never had an accident in the house and has never chewed on anything that was not hers to chew on.  She is protective of the kids and tolerant of the 2 year old.  She is so smart, we taught her to sit, lay down, roll over, beg, dance and even sneeze on command.  She has looks, brains and personality.......  SHE HAS IT ALL!  She acts as if she has always been a part of the family and we dont know what we did before her.  Im so glad she is part of our family.

Ginger (aka Amber) - Adopted August 2006

I should have written you back earlier, but things have been very busy (and fun) around here!  Ginger is doing wonderfully!  We love love love her!  She's been to the beach with us and is going back this weekend.  We've put a pet door there as well and so she has the run of the place, just like here.  She loves to run up and down the beach, stopping at each and every person to say Hi and get her head scratched.  She's getting along well with our other dog as well.  However, our  other dog is going through medication stability issues and is not the most active playmate right now.  But Ginger gets a big walk every night with the family and is quickly making friends around the neighborhood.

I'm going to try to send a picture with this note, but my computer doesn't always cooperate.  You will see that she's put on 3-4 pounds already!  She's an eater!  My husband spoils her terribly.  We have to grill a little steak for her every time we have one ourselves.  And Ginger takes turns sleeping with us one night and our daughter the other.  I'm telling you, she is rotten!  We say she got her "S" tattoo from the mean streets of Charlotte, and now she's living the good life!

Thanks again for hooking us up with the sweetest dog ever!  I'll stay in touch with news in the future.
Hope all is well with you guys!
Regards,
Marsha Farrell

Leelee (aka Lucy)
Adopted October 2006

Thank you LNAR for allowing me to adopt Leelee.  She is joy.

Murphy adopted May 2006 and Lily adopted July 2006

Adopted by their fosterparents Stephanie and Walter. Yes, sometimes we get
attached and adopt our fosterdogs!!!!
Here they are in their  Batdog Halloween Costumes

Yager  adopted November 2006

Thought you would want to know that Yeager is doing great.  He has settled right in – he cried when we put him in the crate so we took him out and let him sleep on a doggie bed beside Toby, our Lab.  He slept through the night with NO potty accidents.  He is eating like crazy – and loves Toby – licks him on the face and follows him around.  Toby kind of looks at him, like is this a sleepover – what time is he going home? :) He loves to lay under our kitchen table or under the chairs.  He was hesitant when we got home but is definitely over that and seems to be feeling very comfortable!!

 We love our new addition!!

Thanks, Donna

Dhani (aka Augen)
adopted September 2006

I adopted a 7 week old German Shepard mix puppy from you on September 16th, his name was Augen.  I just wanted to send you a picture of him, (Dhani...."da-han-knee") so you could see how great he is doing.  He is a healthy little guy who loves to play in leaves and steal his brother's toys. :)

I hope you have a happy holiday season!

Thanks again!

Loki (aka Static) adopted September 2006
“Honey, where’s the puppy?”

We were sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast on a Saturday morning when we realized that we hadn’t seen (or heard) our newest edition to the family for a good 30 seconds.  Considering that our “newest edition” was a 9-week old Norwegian Elkhound pup, that could spell big trouble.

Our calls quickly elicited a series of muffled yips coming from the vicinity of the living room couch.  A closer inspection revealed two hind legs, a fuzzy butt and a furiously wagging tail quickly disappearing into the space underneath the couch.  Worried, my boyfriend and I immediately crouched down and peered into the gloom and saw a dust-covered muzzle and two bright eyes staring back at us.  “Do you think he’s stuck?” I asked, still amazed that our chubby little guy had managed to squeeze himself into the barely-four-inch space.  “Only one way to find out,” my boyfriend replied, and proceeded to waggle a bacon chew in full line of site of our fuzzy contortionist.

We got our answer a bare two seconds later when puppy wiggled right out from under the couch, snatched up the treat and proceeded immediately to his bed to have a good chew.  All his fur was standing straight out from his body due to the static electricity generated from wiggling against the carpet and the underside of the couch.  “Guess he wasn’t stuck then,” my boyfriend commented dryly, checking to make sure he still had all his fingers.

That was four weeks ago and Loki is now way too large to fit under the couch (although it doesn’t keep him from giving it the old college try every now and then – just in case.)  We first saw Loki with the Lake Norman Animal Rescue at the Mooresville Wiener Dog races and after researching his breed on the internet we decided he would make a great addition to our little family.  We changed his name to “Loki” – the old Norwegian god of Mischief – and he works very hard to live up to it!

Loki is almost 100% potty trained and has learned to “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “drop it,” “lay down” and “leave it!”  We’ve enrolled him in puppy school where he does very well and thoroughly loves playing with the other pups.  Although getting a puppy was definitely a lifestyle adjustment for both my boyfriend and I, I can’t imagine coming home now and not seeing his fuzzy little face and wagging tail.  We love taking him out because we receive TONS of compliments on him and everyone, especially kids, enjoy petting his soft fuzzy fur.

Many thanks to the Lake Norman Animal Rescue folks for making the entire adoption process so smooth and helpful.  We love our Loki and we look forward to seeing what else he’ll teach us as he gets older!

R
iley Adopted July 2006

 Hi.
I wanted you all to see that Riley is
doing well and getting very big.  He is 45 pounds and a great dog!  You
all rescued him from a kill shelter and Ed and I saw him at Toyota one
weekend and Ed fell in love with him.  Well, it's been work as is any
child (and he is a child) but it's been worth it.  He has become a family
member.  He is housebroken and does many tricks as he is very smart!

Thanks and keep up the dedicated hard work,
   Cheryl A. Chenu

Guinness (aka Apollo) July 2006
We adopted Guinness ( from Bonnie’s litter.  He is now 6 months old.  He’s the most well behaved puppy we’ve ever owned.  He did go through a round of panositis (growing pains) the Vet said he’ll be fine.  He’s grown like a weed and developed a unique personality.  He loves to chase his big brother Winston, and wrestle with he’s other brother Buster.  Guinness has even turned my husband into a little boy.  Guinness has that man wrapped around his paw.  He has been a blessing to our household.  He’s learned a lot, like ice is wonderful to play with, leaves are for rolling around, my coloring is the same as Bevo the UT Longhorn (“Hook ‘Em Horns”) every time he goes inside it’s treat time and when he gets into something he should have kisses always change Mommy and Daddy’s mind to say no.  Of course it’s difficult to get a picture of all three boys, but here are some of the baby.

Thank you,
Jessica Hargis

Clover adopted August 2006

Clover is doing wonderful.  She is such a sweet and loving little thing.  She is full of life.  With all the rain here, she has dug a spot in the back yard and has rolled in it twice in the last 10 hours.  She came in last night covered in black soil, got a bath.  Did the same this morning, got another bath.  It doesn't seem to bother her.  Thanks for choosing me!  I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We are headed to the beach...she loves to play in the ocean!

Abigail (aka Ellen) adopted November 2006
Hi, Stephanie!  I've been meaning to email you & let you know how Ellen is.  We Love her!  We changed her name to Abigail & she started answering to it right away.  I think she likes it!  She is very happy & loving & she fits in well with our lifestyle.  Our Doberman growled at Abby the first 2 days, but they are the best of buddies now & run & play together, which is what we wanted.  Abby naturally gravitated to the Dalmatian, who was not growling at her.  She likes to sleep curled up next to her.  She is having so much fun with their toy basket!  She's a lot of fun to watch.  She has been to see our vet & they all fell in love with her.  She was very well behaved.  I hope you were able to place a lot of your rescue dogs.  Thank you for rescuing our Abigail.

                                                                             Sincerely,  Susan & John

Raven (Aka Maedel) Adopted November 2006
She is the beauty with the soccer ball!!

Maedel and Piper are napping now, both tired from the excitement of the day.  Maedel surprised all of us by quickly letting Piper know that she wanted the soccer balls and chew toys and that he better not try to take any of them!  Beth, she is doing well her first day in her new home.  I know it will be a few weeks before we will see all of who and how she is with us, but it seems like she might be more dominant than Piper.  He seems to enjoy teasing her a bit by walking up to her with a ball or toy to get her attention, then running when she growls and gives chase.  Our neighbor, a major animal lover who has rescued dogs for years, watched Piper and Maedel interact for awhile when we were playing with them in the field, and then when we were there but not playing with them, and she said she thinks they will be a "good fit" for each other.

Maedel has been very thirsty, drinking very frequently, and ate Nutro Max for large breeds.  Piper does o.k. with it.  She seems more interested in food than he is, but tonight he wanted his food and hers!  She quickly let him know that would not be happening! (and I let him know that too!)
We will keep you posted on her.  Thank you for all of the kind, selfless work you do.  You are a blessing to so many!

Keegan and her mom Maureen had been looking for a special dog to add to her family.  Just so happens that we had rescued several "designer dogs".   These dogs are Labadoodles, Teri-poos and a Tibetan Terrier/Schnauzer.  Maureen met our volunteers at the All American Dog Show to meet several of the dogs.   Keegan brought her dog, a  Tibetan Terrier Buster to pick out a new friend.  Moppet (Tibetan Mix) quickly won Keegans heart.  Maureen and Keegan stayed the day helping out with the event and they are seen here getting ready to leave and start their new lives together.

We thank Maureen and Keegan for all their help, and mostly for giving Moppet a chance at a new wonderful life.

UPDATE:

Just wanted to pass on how we're doing here. BoBo is really really happy. Wags his tale constantly.  He comes to his name...still likes to play a game of "catch-me-if-you-can" after his pee pee breaks outside.  He's only had one accident in the house. and that was my fault...he loves to sneak into Keegan's room and my room and find any shirts/pants/socks that are easy to grab and he makes a nice big pile of them to lay on in the living room, it's hysterical!  He loves Buster..and the other night we just sat and cried as our old boy Buster had a 20 minute playtime where he acted like a puppy again.  He and BoBo wrestled and wagged their tales non-stop.  We feel so lucky that you all saved BoBo's life so we could share the rest of it with him!
If anyone says things are meant-to-be, and there isn't another greater force than us working on this earth this next part of our story should clear that up.  Just after getting BoBo we learned that BustieBoy has a very very serious form of cancer.  We are meeting with a doctor next week to see what options there are...but it's not very good.  So when I felt compelled every night for a week to look at your website and fell in love with so many heavenly faces...I know God was whispering in my ear, it was time to expand our family because Buster wont be here too long.
I have seen Buster smile, literally smile at BoBo. The little guy is making Buster happy, in what could be a trying time for him.  I thank you ladies for all you do.
Trust that we will continue to love BoBo....and do all that's right for him...although we gave up on crating him...he's potty trained and doesn't need it!  But he loves his life here...we have to keep close watch on him though when he's outside..he jumped a six foot brick wall to a second level in our yard that wasn't fenced, that was a drama..but we're getting that remedied.
Again, we love the little guy and just are so grateful to have him.
most sincerely
Buster, Keegan, Maureen

Update....BustieBoy passed away early November.   Maureen wrote to say that they were so glad that Buster got to be  a part of BustieBoys last month.  He brought joy and happiness to him.  We are so sorry for the O'Boyles loss.

Oreo (aka Randy) adopted October 2006

Just wanted to let you know Oreo is wonderful.  He is so calm and loves being here.  He sleeps with my son, after the first time when I took him into my sons room, last night he came in the house from pottying and he went straight to his room and jumped in the bed with him.  He is so adorable.  We really love him and he seems to be at home here.

Thank you very much!

Jodie

Max (aka Davie) adopted September 2006

I just wanted to let you know that little Davie has already been such a joy in the few days we have had him.  We changed his name to Max, since we did not think Davie really fit his personality. He seems very smart and he catches on to things quickly.  He also has slept through the night every night, and sleeps next to our other doxie, shoulder to shoulder.  It is obvious he has not been walked on a leash very much so taking walks with him is quite interesting at this point. He is a great eater, and loves to run, run, run in the backyard! Max is already a great addition to our family, and I wanted to thank you for all that you do for these little animals.
Attached is a picture of him with my daughter, Alannah.
Thanks again,
Angela Stephens-Owen

Sugar adopted October 2006

I can not tell you how very much we love this dog.  She is wonderful, gentle, loving, attentive,  and what an athlete !  She was up in the tree house ( only 4 feet up) with 6 year old Katie, trying to herd the pony around the yard, jumping in and out of the horse trailer, playing with the other dogs. Please tell whoever turned in this lovely dog that she is appreciated here.  I can tell she was use to being loved.

Thank You !!!
Doreen

Update November 2006

Hi Stephanie,
My new Mom, Uncle Gary and Aunt Deb took me and my cousin Fletcher on a hike this past weekend. I was a very good girl and played with Fletcher who is also a rescue dog. My mom told some of the people that we met that I was a rescue Dog and they thought that I was one of those highly trained dogs who go out on rescue missions. Mom thought that was great !! Other people were cautious of me and afraid to pet me because they thought I was one of those "attack dogs". Mom set them straight and told them that I was a big jelly bean !!  I of course wanted to get close to all the small children and let them pet me.
My mom keeps telling me that she loves me and how lucky she is.  She is even thinking of looking for a brother GSD closer to my age since my sister is kind of old and not very playful.
If you know any dog as sweet as me please let her know.
Be Happy !!
Sugar

Duke (aka Ollie) Adopted October 2006

We have had a wonderful night with "Duke".  He ate like a champ, drank a ton of water, went for a long walk in the country and has been brushed.  We have all bonded a lot quicker than I thought.  We made the right decision.  Thank you so much for being a part of this and I will keep your e-mail and number on hand.  We will visit at PetSmart occasionally.

Lucky (aka Ringo) adopted October 2006

Ringo, now named Lucky, is such a good puppy.  He's very quiet and easygoing.  I heard him bark for the first time Sunday, when a neighbor's dog came by and Lucky saw him, he started barking at him like he was a tough guy.  The other dog, a very large retriever, just wagged his tail and kept on going.  Very funny.
Other than that, he's doing pretty good.  He stayed here for a couple of nights and got along with my kids, even my one year old.  I think he's happy to be back with my parents though, a lot more quiet there.

Thanks for checking in on him.

River Adopted October 2006

Here's some pictures of our newly adopted family member. River is adapting well to his new environment as you can see in the pictures. He's really a well behaved dog and is very affectionate and everyone adores him. He loves the yard to where he can run and play and he's always looking for affection which he gets lots of from everyone. We are very fortunate to come upon this loving animal and River along with us will receive lots of love and affection. Thanks again.

Taffy (aka Honey) adopted September 2006

Thanks so much for checking up on Honey who we named Taffy.  we love her!  Things are going well.  She gained about 8-10 pounds and is having a blast with our neighbor's dog, Lexi.    Taffy is learning to heel and sit:)  She is very smart.  We are crate training her.  She does really well in it!  No barking or crying.

Also we want to sign her up for puppy school.

 We love Taffy!!

Oma                                                 Dame

Dame and Oma adopted together October 20006

(NOTE:  Dame and Oma came to us severely emaciated and full of worms.  We had them in fostercare for 3 weeks, where they were gaining weight and getting healthy, however their progress was slow.  Then a miracle happened, a family offered their home to both girls.  As soon as they went into the Carver home, they flourished!!!!)

I wanted to let you all know that Oma has blended into our family, as though she'd always been a part of it.  When Oma came to me she weighed 60 pounds and today she weighed in at 65 pounds - five pounds in 12 days!  Dame was 59 pounds and in 10 days has gained 2.5 pounds.  Her weight and stamina are better by the day.  They have become integral parts of our family and we love them dearly.   She and Dame are inseparable - a wise and healthy decision to adopt them together :)
Thank you for allowing us to provide a home for Dame and Oma

Georgia (aka Cricket ) adopted July 2006

Sorry it's taken so long for me to write.  Things have been very busy with our new little Border Collie!  We have renamed her Georgia .  It just seemed to fit.  That sweet quiet pup who slept all the way from Statesville to Charlotte and then from Charlotte to the coast has turned into a little ball of fire.  And the fasted little runner.  Her speed is awesome.  It's wonderful!  I don't need my alarm clock anymore.  She’s wakes up at 6:30a on the dot.  And out the door we go!

Honestly, she's an amazingly smart and affectionate girl.  We go to obedience classes and we are both doing very well.  She enjoys meeting all her other doggie friends.  She is quite the social butterfly.  Even after we graduate we will continue to go as she loves the social interaction so much.

Georgia loves all the cats and dogs in the neighborhood.  Every walk we take she MUST visit with all her little kitty cat friends.  And the cats have come to enjoy the visits too.  Georgia can’t figure out why they don’t like to play chase, though.

Georgia has enjoyed trips to the beach to play in the water.  She’s not so sure about the waves just yet.  But she sure loves digging in the sand looking for crabs!  And of course,  meeting all the other beach doggies is a thrill for her.  We also drive into town to walk and to people watch.  There’s a horse & buggy carriage that she’s very interested in.  I believe she thinks that the horse is one HUGE dog.  The first time she saw it she stopped in her tracks and looked up at me as if to say “Mama, that’s doggy’s so big!”  Then she barked at it.  The horse paid no attention what-so-ever.

Well, we just wanted to let you know that Georgia is fitting in perfectly and thoroughly enjoying her new life.  And we are enjoying her.  Thank you so much for rescuing her and making it possible for her to come into our lives.  She’s out little-love-bug.

We’ll send updates on how she’s doing.

Kate & Eric DeGiule

PS:  her favorite game is tug, as you can tell by the picture

Ranson adopted May 2006

We would like to thank you for saving Ranson's life.  He needed his own people as much as we needed him.  He is very attentive to us and shines like a golden star with other people and children.  the neighborhood children like to tell him they "love him.  He especially loves to go to the park and swim and to the outlet mall to collect pets and compliments on his good looks.  He is very much a fine example of his breed in looks and disposition.  It has taken a while, but with lots of love, pets, and praise, he has accepted us as his masters, not just his family.

Ranson's health is excellent!!  His body has billed out great and his coat is just beautiful.  Adding about 15 pounds to his weight, and one and a half mile walks up and down the hills around her twice a day, he has built up a lot of muscle.  Another benefit of all the walks is he uses his pent-up energy .

Gene, Marilyn and Ranson really want to thank you again.

Marley Adopted Sept 2006

Sailor adopted Sept 2006 (she has the brown eye patch)
I just wanted to send you an update on Sailors trip
home. Everyone made it safe and sound and Sailor is
settling in nicely. I have attached some photos of our

Thanks for the wonderful puppy! She is already an
irreplaceable part of our family.

Buddy Adopted Sept 2006
coming in 2nd at the Wiener Run, his very first race!!!!

Buddy was at the Weiner Race in Mooresville, NC for adoption through
Lake Norman Animal Rescue.  Abby, my 11 mo. old dachshund was lonely and
stressed out when left alone and needed a friend.  Buddy was sitting in
his cage wagging his tail with his little ragged ears from abuse and
his happy, friendly eyes in spite of his condition.  What a sweet dog
Buddy is.  We took him home to Asheboro, NC and he is adjusting well.  He
needs to gain a few pounds and in fact after only 3 days is starting
fill out and cover his ribs and backbone again.  He love to sit in your
lap and groan his contentment.  Buddy is older than Abby, and he seems
to have a calming effective to her hyperactivity.  They lay on the sofa
together and have started to play tag and rough "wiener games"
together.  Buddy loves his new dad and mom especially his dad who is adjusting
to having two dogs in the house.  Our cat, Gata, is doing well with him
and he likes her.  We look forward to lots of years with Buddy a!
s part of our family.  What a blessing to find such as sweet "little
man".  Thanks Lake Norman Animal Rescue for being there to rescue him so
that we could get to know him and give him a better life.

Jack (AKA Captain) adopted Sept 2006

(a little background on Jack.....he was an older dog that came into animal control with one eye badly damaged and his teeth were in horrible condition,  so bad that many had rotted out...but he was such a loving sole who had something special, he had been passed over many times.....we just felt in our hearts he deserved another chance and there was was a special home for him......And within 3 short weeks, that home came......we thank Corrine and her family for giving Jack a new lease on life)

Wanted to give you guys an update on Captain.  His name is now JACK,
alias one eye Jack.  He has fit in just great. He is so sweeeeeeet.  I
took him to the vet and he did recommend removing that one bad eye.
He said that the cyst would just keep getting larger causing more
discomfort.  He advised to wait a little while so he could get used to us
and get more secure.  they are going to work on his teeth at the same
time so they only have to put him to sleep once.

Thanks for saving my little guy so I could make him a member of our
family.
corrine

Maggie (aka Dani)  adopted Sept 2006

We are thrilled to report that "Dani" is doing great in her new home. As you know, my girls really wanted to name her themselves, and after many vetoed ideas (Snowflake???), we settled on "Maggie".  Actually, my older daughter came up with it, and called it out, and the dog came running!  Maybe it was a name she had in a former life? It seems to fit either way.  The best news though, is how easy it's been to fit her in to our family.  She's so sweet and endearing.  And Sam LOVES her!!  Hurray!   After an initially shaky start, she and Sammy have completely hit it off, and really enjoy each other's company.  In fact, I can't get them to STOP playing!  I am not exaggerating.  Their first meeting was not love at first sight, as was expected.  But after Sam let her know he was boss, and after a long while of hiding in the corner of our deck, Maggie finally found her confidence and marched right up to Sam with a friendly nudge.  Ever since then, those two have been literally playing every minute they are together.  I kid you not...I've actually had to separate them to get a break and let them calm down!

I guess I should wrap this up by saying THANK YOU for rescuing Sparklers/Dani/Maggie.  All of you there at LKN Rescue are angels.  Keep up the wonderful work you do.  It pays off, as we can attest!

Thank you so much.

Stacey King, and family

Biscuit 8 weeks old Fall 2005

Biscuit (aka Sunny)  adopted 2005

photo on right at age 8 weeks....photo on left age 1 year.

Who knew he would go from that little puppy into this big guy.  He weighs 38 pounds, which is way more than we were guessing (he had giant paws, so we should have suspected...).  His pictures don't do him justice, but he is a beautiful dog.  People are always asking what kind he is and can't believe he's a "mutt" - he should be a poster boy for animal rescue.  He's tall and athletic - he may have some retriever in him.  We have him groomed, but keep most of his cute face whiskers. He's the favorite with the ladies at the bank and they think he should be on TV or in the movies.  Even though he's still young, he's very calm and extremely smart.  He's been to two obedience classes, and he was the star.  The other dog parents called him a show-off!

This is WAY more info than you needed, but I love to brag about him he's such a great dog.

Thanks for your emails!

Patti

UPDATE.......Patti and Biscuit came back to LNAR to adopt their second dog.....Sunshine is now Biscuit's little sister!!!

Biscuit all grown Up!!!

Sunshine and her new brother Biscuit 2 weeks after adoption

Sunshine - Adopted Sept 2006....see above

What a difference two weeks makes!  Sunshine is doing so well.  She has really settled in, and is such a happy, friendly dog.  We're still working on the housebreaking (!!**!*!*!), but that will take time - it certainly did with Biscuit.  She now either ignores the cat or licks him, and the guinea pigs aren't such a novelty.  We'll just make sure that we don't have the pigs out with her around.  The pigs are still in the same room - they live in a huge cage we made, and it's too difficult to move, but it should work.  The dogs have side-by-side crates with cozy beds and she is doing great with being in hers.

Biscuit is THRILLED with her!  He would play all day, so we sometimes have to separate them so she can get a break.  He has not in the least been jealous or possessive with his toys, bed, people, or anything.  What Sunshine lacks in size she makes up for in tenacity and speed.  She latches onto Biscuit's ear or beard and shakes away.  He doesn't even try to chase her anymore she's so fast.  I'm attaching a couple of pictures so you can see how much they look alike.

Sunny does ok on the leash, and we walk to school everyday.  People have stopped their cars in the middle of the road, confronted us at PetSmart,  and stopped in front of our house to ask what kind of dogs they are, are they related, the same kind, etc.  As usual, no one can believe they are rescue dogs.  I don't know why anyone would BUY a dog, when you can get just as wonderful, if not more so, pets by rescuing.  I'm not telling you anything new...

I believe she's going to be the lap dog I was hoping for.  She loves to lie in my lap and have ear rubs and will go to sleep.  I'll be  taking her for training to the same trainer Biscuit had.

We are so happy to have her, and she will live the princess life she deserves.  Thanks for letting us adopt her, and for all the pets you find homes for!

I rescued a dog from you all in February and really just loved your organization and what you do for dogs and cats who don't have homes.  I also just wanted to let Stephanie (fostermother) know that Jake, formerly known as Buckles, is doing great!  He is about to turn 2!  I have attached a recent picture of him for her to see.

Liebe adopted Aug 2006

She is such a sweetheart.  Sam is cooling off toward her a little.  I guess he finally realized that she is there to stay!  Hopefully, he will stop being so aloof and realize that we all have more than enough love to go around.

Best of luck with all your fosters.

Will keep you posted on her progress.  Regards, Joan

Wednesday and July adopted July 2006

Our happy ending of the day at the Parks Chevrolet event in July 2006 was for Spaniel Brothers July and Wednesday.  July was adopted by Valerie Hackett who came with her mother Lee to find a new companion.  Two hours later Valerie and Lee were back.  Seems Lee could not stop thinking about Wednesday and they decided that he needed to come home with them as well.  Although they will not live in the same house, they will see each other often and can grow up together!!!!!!  Thank you Lee and Valerie for giving our babies  wonderful new homes.

Emma Nov 2005

Emma adopted December 2005 by a family in upstate NY

You all do such a great thing by helping those pups
out.  What some people can live with doing to animals
is beyond my comprehension.  You all really are
wonderful!

Emma is doing great!  Although she's a little down
because we have started to have some pretty hot days
that are very humid and that is not her favorite.  She
LOVES the snow.  If we had let her, during the winter,
she would have stayed out there forever:)

She is also going to be starting her next obedience
class next week.  I have been alternating with the two
girls, Emma has class and then Sadie.  But we have
been keeping busy with other activities.  We've been
working a lot on our leash walking because the annual
"mutt strut" for our humane society is coming up and
the girls and I will be attending and hopefully
raising a lot of cash!

Love and kisses to the babies that don't have homes
yet!      Christy

Clarkson - Adopted July 2006
We have decided to keep the name Clarkson as it does fit him and we can't think of anything better!  His first trip to the vet and boarding kennel was a success.  He really does fit in perfectly with us, Mike and I feel like we've had him forever that he has always been a part of the family.   It is funny to think back to the day we came by and he wouldn't even look at Mike.  Well judging by one of the pictures you'll see that is no longer an issue!
I can go on and on about how thrilled and impressed we are with him and can't believe how anyone could have ever let him go.  But we are so happy that they did as he found his way to our home.
Enjoy the pictures.

Brutus-(aka King)Adopted May 2006

I thought I would give you a short update on Brutus
aka King; aka Buddy).  He has done much better than I
expected.  We put him on a gentle leader collar and
within 1 minute he was walking by my side with no
pulling.  He gets all excited to go for walks now
(although he is not thrilled with the gentle leader,
keeps trying to get it off unless we are walking).
He is still a very good boy, no accidents or bothering
things.  He has gotten to where he and Sasha will
play together. He is definitely a guarding dog but
loves everyone in the neighborhood.  So he is
doing well, getting in better shape and his coat
is very soft and shiny.  He is just one of the family now.

Oreo (aka Jerry)- Adopted June 2006 by a family in Florida

We had been looking for a friend for our older dog, Lucky, for quite
some time. We were hoping for a male puppy of about 6mo. of age, that was
a no-shedder. Our 10 year old daughter, Stephanie, was told not to
search Petfinder out of our range. One day she found 4 Border
Collie/Standard Poodle mix pups. They were all 4 mo. old. "They're cute, but it's
just too far away." I said to her.
Then I remembered that my wife Jayne's friend Felicia was in the
Charlotte, NC area at the time.
We called up Felicia, and the foster parent of Oreo (called Jerry back
then) and made arrangements to adopt him. The 7 hour trip to his new
home went well. We'd like to thank his foster Daddy and our great friend
Felicia for making all of this happen. Oreo is the sweetest, calmest, 4
month old puppy we have ever met, and actually........ He has really
changed the personality of our slightly-aggressive female Rottie mix. She
is so much better now!!!!

Sugar (aka Ille)- adopted June 2006

I wanted to thank you again for bringing Ille into our lives –
she is such a sweetheart and we already love her so much!
We have renamed her to Sugar since she is so sweet and
she seems to really like it and respond to us when we
call her.  She’s had no accidents in the house and
loves to play with her toys, especially balls and
squeaky toys.  She gets along great with our nieces
and nephews and my parents have become very
attached to her as well.    She has found her voice,
but her bark sounds like she has a sore throat until
she gets going – it is so cute! Thanks again for
everything!  Sugar has brought so much joy to all of us!

Take care,

Ava

Martha - adoption July 2006

Stephanie I like my new mom and dad, we have allot of fun in the yard, chasing each outher ,running alter sticks, chasing dad and mom . But mom doesn't run to fast . Dad has thought me to sit, sit up on my back feet, shake hands almost or some times. Dad takes me over to the neighbors to play with the small kids. We also have neighbors with a new Jack Russell to play with. I hope my old family is doing good.  I hope I didn't miss spell to many words dad is helping me with this darn letter. Love Sadie

From Tuckers Family... He is doing GREAT!!! He still has alot of "puppy energy" and he is soooooooo loving. He is up to about 75 or 80 pounds and he loves to play outside - they can play outside allllll day and as soon as I let them inside, Tucker is sitting by the back door again - he loves to chase Mocha around outside ha ha ha.... hope all is well with you and your animals!! Krista :)!!!

iSylvia has gained 6 ounces and eats like a little pig. I absolutely adore her and she knows it she got in the bed with me for the first time last night, she is using her scratching post and has actually started to play. My entire family is enamoured with her and she is just eating it up. I think she is one of the sweetest kitties I have ever seen. Thank you so much for rescuing her and giving us the opportunity to adopt her. Sincerely, Jean

Silvia now lives in Georgia

From Ritas new family........ She's doing great - the girls love her, she's quickly fitting in. She and Kahlua are tip-toeing around each other, keeping a respectful distance, but have touched noses and shown a lot of curiosity towards each other. Rita is wonderful. She's smart, sweet-tempered, and easygoing. In other words, a perfect fit. We are thrilled to have her here. Thank you Jackie & Brian.

From Specials mom..... We recently adopted a Chihuahua/pug mix by the name of "Special." Beth was her foster Mom! We wanted to thank you again for caring for this "little piece of heaven." We have named her "Sweetie!" She is absolutely wonderful. She has blessed us with her energy and silliness and keeps us smiling every day. We are so thankful that we saw that sweet face on the internet and came to North Carolina to find the little pup that had been waiting for us to find her. Our home is full of her love now. She was and will always be "Special." Beth, a special thanks to you for the job you are doing. Thank you, Kathy and Tom

special now lives in South Carolina

From Rubys new family.... Ruby is GREAT! She really hasn't seemed to skip a beat. She is doing great with the kids too - she is so easy going. She can somehow climb up the ramp to their playhouse and they LOVE that. She is greatly enjoying her walks as well. We are spoiling her rotten so far. Because we have been gone for 3 hours each evening - we've been making it up to her with 3 walks a day. We are going to take her to her first grooming appt next week. I'll be curious to see how she likes that. The groomer is at our vet and she is a wonderful lady so hopefully Ruby will enjoy it. Take care! Becky

Ruby now lives in Georgia

From Gordan's mom... Thank you for following up on your adopted animals. You obviously really care about animals. We have renamed him Chance and he is a wonderful dog. Chance is so loving and he "talks" to us. Our yellow lab, Sassy, loved Chance at first sight. After we got him home and settled, we went back to the store and bought him big igloo dog house for him like Sassy's. Well.....the two of them are sleeping together. They took turns sleeping in his house and Sassy's house. They played and played together romping around and chasing after toys. I got up at 1:30 am Sunday morning and looked out at them. They were still running around playing. Chance has just about as much energy as Sassy so they are a good match. He is eating very good. We gave him a bath (which he didn't mind at all) and his coat just shines. I guess it was just meant for Chance to come into our lives. Thank you so much for rescuing Chance and taking good care of him until we could adopt him. Sandy

From OC's dad..... OC is doing great. He's very sweet and affectionate. He's picked out 2 favorite toys, drags them into the kitchen and plays with them constantly. He's trying to make friends with my other cat Abbey. Abbey has stopped hissing and is tolerating him now. By next week, I'm sure they will be playing. James

Bailey - Adopted 2005

She is perfect.....

From Skeeter and Bugs parents............ Well it has been a little over a year since we picked up Skeeter and Bug from you. Jax (Skeeter) and Riley (Bug) have been wonderful dogs and they have truly made our lives better. Thank you so much for taking them in and then handing them over to us. They truly seem to know that they were rescued and they are truly thankful. Take care and good luck with all your future adoptions. Brad (and Lynn)
