| | We are Volunteers trying to make a
difference one pet at a time. Lake Norman Animal Rescue is a non-profit 501-c-3
organization. We do not receive funding from any other source other
than public donations made directly to our organization. Lake Norman
Animal Shelter is a sister agency of Lake Norman Animal Rescue. Our mission
is to rescue adoptable pets in shelters during their last hours. We transport
pets from local shelters to other rescues. We list pets that are still in
shelters that are awaiting rescue. Please read each pets profile carefully as
some ask you to contact various shelters directly.
Lake Norman Animal Rescue was founded in February 2004. We were conceived as a rescue group that worked a little differently. Our volunteers desired to rescue the often overlooked, highly adoptable pets that had, through no fault of their own, been abandoned in animal control shelters throughout the Lake Norman region. These animals we felt were truly the most critical cases and needed a voice. We chose to become that voice.
All of our animals are temperament tested for adoptability before they enter our program. We work closely with several animal control shelters and we are always seeking out those pets with that indescribable "something special". We feel that when you meet our animals, you will understand what we are talking about. Our adoptable pets reside in loving fosterhomes with our families. We look for highly adoptable pets that are good with other animals, children and a variety of situations. That said we understand there is a rainbow of personality traits and we strive to match the pet to the right family. You will know everything we know about our animals, and we will work with you helping to acclimate your new pets to their new environment. We ask that you be open to training techniques including crate training.
We also promote responsible pet ownership and spay neuter programs. We are an all volunteer charity that currently does not have a facility, instead we exist through a network of private foster homes.

The Noah's Ark Rescue
There was a recent rescue of numerous animals involved
in a neglect case in Lincolnton county. You may have read about it
in the news. Lake Norman Animal Rescue volunteers spent
countless hours helping authorities care for the over 400 animals.
We have taken in many into our fosterhomes for care. At this time
the animals are NOT available for adoption and we do not know if and
when they will become available due to a pending court case....however
we are seeking donations to help care for these poor lost soles.
Right now we would like to introduce you to 7 of these animals....
The lost boys need your help
We would like to introduce you to 7
handsome gentlemen. These boys were neglected and not
treated very well. Several came to us with injuries that required
vet care and in the case of one little man, his ear was torn off.
They now are residing in two separate but equally loving fosterhomes who
are committed to giving them the best possible care. They spent
their lives housed in small cages that were cramped and filthy with
their own waste. They had never touched the ground nor had fresh
vegetables. They now live in large enclosures where they can hop
and frolic and they get lots of healthy veggies and timothy hay every
day.
We are seeking donations in the form
of Wal-Mart and Food Lion Gift cards to purchase fresh veggies for the
boys. Please mail to:

Where do you want to
help.......
Feed an animal in need today??
Spay/neuter to prevent future
litters??
Build a safe haven in the future??
We are actively

Donations can be made into our general fund to help rescue
animals today or you can request your donation be made to help
the future of rescued animals and donate to the

How can You
help
We are often asked, how can
I help. We are thrilled there
are so many people who feel as strongly as we do to help the
animals.
Most offers are from wonderful kindhearted children who want to
help save the animals. Virtually all children want
to come "help walk and pet the animals". At this time, we
do not have a facility, we are a network of private fosterhomes.
We do our adoptions out of Petsmart in Mooresville, and they do
have an age limit on volunteers and at this time we are at our
capacity for young adult volunteers who work directly with the
animals. However the animals still need help in other
ways, more behind the scenes, just as important.... ....fundraising. It always amazes us how
resourceful and selfless children can be when they see a need.
We have had children request donations in lieu of Birthday gifts;
design, create and market handmade cards and sell them door to
door; a girl scout collected dog food and distributed it, and
even the simple but very effective explaining the need and
directly asking for donations.
All of the above are great ideas, in addition,
children can organize a neighborhood carwash, collect change at
school, collect pet food and/or come up with their own creative
way to earn donations.
We also hear from adults who want to help.
Again, we do not currently have a faculty so our greatest need working
directly with the animals would be become a fosterfamily.
Although this is not feasible for every family, those that do
foster learn the great rewards saving an animal can bring.
If interested in fostering please email us at
lknrescue@yahoo.com Of course donations are always greatly
appreciated. Vetting, pet food, animal control pull fees
and medications are getting more expensive each year.
Many employers have matching programs where time and/or money
donated can be doubled. Donations are greatly
appreciated and to make it easy to donate, we do accept paypal.
Donations of food, blankets, leashes, bowls, kennels and any
other pet related items are also greatly appreciated and we will
accept gently used Just email us and we can set up for you
to drop off or possibly get a volunteer to meet you
